Jenny Elvey, the General Manager of Cobram Family and Financial Services, said the sessions are designed to help residents navigate the current financial situation, particularly in terms of saving money on energy.
“We will be providing assistance to those residents who haven't applied for their Power Saving Bonus 4, which is $250,” she said.
“We will also conduct power checks to ensure the correct concessions are applied, to ensure residents are on the cheapest rate, and to assist them in applying for the utility relief grant if required.”
The Power Saving Bonus is a $250 payment to a person who has a current residential electricity account with any electricity provider in Victoria.
Ms Elvey said attendees only need to bring themselves.
“Residents can bring their power bill if they like, otherwise we can just have a chat with them.”
In addition to assistance with their power bills, attendees at the help sessions can also receive assistance with purchasing essential goods.
“People can also apply for the NILS no-interest loans, which are up to $2000 for the purchase of essential goods such as whitegoods or car repairs,” Ms Elvey said.
Ms Elvey said she hopes the sessions will enable residents to better understand their power bills and will provide knowledge regarding financial assistance.
