A desire for a business where they could work together was the impetus for sports-mad couple Susie and Rowan Bennett to open a shop in Kyabram.
That business is still going strong 25 years on.
‘‘And we still enjoy working together,’’ Mr Bennett said.
Years ago the couple was in Warrnambool checking out another sporting goods business when Mr Bennett picked up a copy of a businesses for sale magazine and saw the Kyabram Sportspower store was on the market.

Across country run
Fit Kyabram locals were put to shame on Thursday last week when Hawaiian Guinness world record holder and endurance athlete Jason Lester stopped in town.
Mr Lester, who was the first person to run the length of the Great Wall of China alone in one single attempt in 2014, was running through the town as part of a run around Australia.
Mr Lester said he wanted to run around the country as part of his greater goal to run the length of the world, which he hoped to complete by running around Europe next year.
Mr Lester said he had averaged 50 to 60km a day on his run so far and was way off his original route, despite planning his journey before setting off.

The hockey career of Kyabram teenager Baden Small continues to blossom.
Baden was selected in the Victorian country junior male side after the Victorian Junior Country Championships last month.
It is the third time the Kyabram teenager has represented Victoria.
The Victorian side competed in its first match against a touring NSW under 16 side recently and went down 3-4, with Baden taking the man of the match award.

26,000km to Atlanta
Since the start of the school year students at Stanhope Primary School have been trekking their way 26,000km across the globe ― without taking a step out of Stanhope.
Weary-legged students have been walking, running or jogging across Australia, Indonesia, China, Russia, through Alaska, Canada and into the United States of America.
Their objective is to be part of the opening ceremony of the Olympics to be staged at Atlanta, which is, of course, 26,000km away.
Actually, the students won’t quite be in Atlanta in person.

Black sheep galore in this family
Every family may have black sheep, but this family has 17!
Mr and Mrs John Chester, Mt Scobie dairy farmers, are raising a flock of black sheep.
Mrs Chester spins and knits the fleece of the rare sheep.
The Chesters are breeding from a flock of 11 dark adults, and the progeny, including six lambs, have all been black so far.
The black colouring does not originate from a single breed.

The mini Olympics will take place in Melbourne on September 3 and 4.

The organisers have obtained the 1956 Olympic Games torch and various flags and banners that were used in the Melbourne Games.
