The funding is to promote social connection and foster health and wellbeing for the community of Yarroweyah, with a free film screening including wrap around mental health support.
The Just A Farmer screening is one of 19 projects being funded by FRRR across Victoria as part of the latest round of the Foundation’s flagship Strengthening Rural Communities grants program.
FRRR’s Head of Granting Jill Karena said the funding was being directed primarily to remote and underserved rural communities.
“FRRR’s vision is for rural Australia to be vibrant, resilient, sustainable and empowered,” she said.
“No two places or their priorities are the same, but common activities include upgrades to shared facilities, emergency preparedness, digital inclusion, arts and culture, and health or social participation initiatives.
“Several projects focus on building local capability for the long term, particularly in disaster-affected, isolated or underserved communities.
“We’re also funding wellbeing and social initiatives, including arts programs. These projects help strengthen community resilience, boost confidence and reduce social isolation during drought and disaster events.”
