Girgarre’s Open Gardens Festival will celebrate a major milestone on Sunday, October 22.

The festival, which sees four gardens in Girgarre showcased to the public, turns 10 in 2023.

Run by local volunteers, the event sees Gargarro Green Thumbs Nursery is the central hub, while the Gargarro Botanic Gardens and Girgarre Sound Wall, are all within walking distance.
The day finishes with a High Afternoon Tea at the gardens of Bonshaw Estate from 2pm to 3.30pm.
Bonshaw Estate’s Bernie Ryan said this year’s event will be a special one.

“It’s the 10th anniversary,” Mr Ryan said.
“Last year, we had 380 people go through on the day, and we finished up at Bonshaw.”
Fellow organiser Loraine Warde is looking forward to welcoming many devotees of beautiful gardens this year.
“It’s a truly wonderful day in Girgarre, and anyone who loves beautiful gardens should get their tickets as soon as possible,” Mrs Warde said.

The event raises funds for Girgarre’s Community Car and the Friends of Gargarro Botanic Gardens.
Tickets for the festival are $25, which includes a high afternoon tea at Bonshaw Estate from 2pm until 3.30pm.
They must be pre-purchased via Girgarre Open Gardens Festival, Humanitix or Gargarro Green Thumbs Nursery or via the QR code in the attached poster.
“To find out about your tickets, you go online to the Girgarre Open Gardens Festival and purchase your tickets,” Mr Ryan said.

“You can pick them up on the day from 9.30am at the hub on Winter Rd. The gardens are open from 10am,” Mrs Warde said.
