Historical society provides a window to the past

Ready to race: Clive Toms (left, former Kyabram mayor) and his neighbour, the late Brian Doolan, in their pedal cars. The photograph was taken in 1947 on the footpath outside 62 Fischer St in Kyabram.

Kyabram Historical Society’s walkway window displays are renowned for stopping people in their tracks — literally.

People walking past the historic Allan St building will often catch a glimpse of an interesting window display that brings back a memory from their past.

This month is no exception, with the display featuring restored pedal cars, a tricycle, a pram and other historic pieces.

The centrepieces of the display have all been built and restored by a highly-skilled and passionate Kyabram history buff and will be on display until the end of July.

Eileen Sullivan, from Kyabram Historical Society, said the organisation was always looking for groups, schools, clubs or anyone who would like to put a display in the walkway window for a month.

If anyone is interested they can phone Clive on 0488 348 238 or Eileen on 0423 504 328.
