The team at Bright Hope Books is inviting the community to explore the life of local philanthropist and midwife Margaret Docking through the official book launch of The Midwife, The Plumber and The Bishop.
From 10.30am, guests will be treated to a heartwarming journey through Mrs Docking’s life, featuring personal anecdotes shared by her sister Ruth Close.
The launch will also showcase her creation of Wise Choices for Life, a foundation empowering Ugandan women through vital reproductive health education.
Bright Hope Books owner Alyce Wiltshire said she was looking forward to attendees hearing about Mrs Docking’s story, as many around the area would know of her.
“It’s a pretty remarkable story, so we decided we should feature the story and share it so people can know all about what she has done,” she said.
“We really want it to be more of a community event for those not aware of the impact Marg’s life had on the world.”
The gathering also gives attendees the chance to honour Mrs Docking’s legacy with ticket proceeds from the event going towards the Wise Choices for Life foundation.
The event will run from 10.30am to noon at Bright Hope Books on Allan St with tickets for $30 which includes a catered brunch and goodies.
