The iconic Kyabram Hotel will again open its doors to the public after three years.
And the new lessees want the pub to be known by its original name — The Kyabram Hotel — rather than the ‘‘Blue Brick’’ or ‘‘Bluey’’, which has been its popular title over the past 60 years.
The pub has had a thorough spruce-up for its much anticipated return with its façade now boasting a gentle grey appearance, and its former tinted street windows have been replaced by large transparent ones.
The pub’s new lessees — George (Zac) Zaharakis (general manager), Rob Bottazzi (consultant) and John Zurcas (director) — have more than 100 years between them in operating hotels and restaurants and are confident they can make a success of the venture.
John is a member of the Zurcas family who ran one of northern Victoria’s most famous pubs, Shepparton’s Goulburn Valley Hotel, for more than 30 years.
Rob currently runs Hotel Traralgon in Gippsland. Zac and John will the run the Kyabram Hotel.
