A midnight fire at the Kyabram Salvation Army Thrift Store on Thursday, May 22 is being treated as suspicious by detectives.
Kyabram Fire Brigade responded to reports of a structure fire at about 11.41pm on Bradley St and arrived to find the Kyabram Salvos store on fire.
A CFA spokesperson said crews arrived to find the building “well alight, with smoke issuing from the roof”.
CFA had five vehicles attend the scene, supported by Fire Rescue Victoria.
The fire was declared under control at 12.41am on Friday, May 23 and safe at 2.24am.
Victoria Police officers were also on scene, along with the relevant power and gas companies.
Campaspe Crime Investigation Unit Leading Senior Constable Karolyn Formosa said the fire was “being treated as suspicious”.
She said there was no-one inside the store at the time and the investigation remained ongoing.
Campaspe Salvos’ Major Lynne Turnbull said the store would be closed “until further notice” while investigations were under way.
“We’re already busy (with the Red Shield Appeal) so having this pop up doesn’t help,” she said.
