Kyabram P-12 College welcomed multiple employers to a fun-filled careers day for students in Years 5 to 8 on the final day of Term 2.

The day began with a careers fair in the school hall, attended by Victoria Police, headspace, La Trobe University and Dairy Australia, among other local businesses.

Booths were set up in the hall for employers to share with students what their careers were like across different industries.
Senior students from the college also spoke about their experience undertaking TAFE courses and school-based apprenticeships with the younger students.

Following recess, students were asked to join two different career-based workshops from a wide variety of choices, from bike maintenance to yoga.
Learning leader Rowena Morris, who organised the day, said it was an opportunity to get younger students to consider what their future might be.
“We wanted to give them something so they can start thinking about what their lives look like after school, before it’s too late,” she said.
The day also presented a chance for students to consider what their hobbies and interests were, and to teach them practical life skills.
“We had Bendigo Bank come and run a session on personal finance, how to set up a bank account, and cyber safety with banking stuff,” Ms Morris said.
“The kids have loved it.”
After the careers expo and workshops, students enjoyed a free lunch, face painting, games, and music from a student-led band.
