The Kyabram Historical Society Window Display in the Kyabram Town Hall Walkway has been gradually changing during this special year of celebrating Kyabram’s 150 years.

The displays feature a timeline of the development of Kyabram from 1876 to 2026.
This display will be in the Walkway Window until the middle of October, after which the following years will continue to be featured.
1925: The Masonic Temple was officially opened on the north-east corner of Church & Unitt Sts.
1926: A Garage was erected on the south-east corner of Allan & Bishop Sts in 1926 by Mr Jack Pettifer. Mechanic – Mr Bill Shaw. The first Holden car was on display in this garage operated by J & L Muston in 1948. Some old automotive equipment features in the window.
1927: Kyabram’s first ambulance was officially handed over by Mr W G Hicks, country organiser of the Victorian Ambulance Service, in a ceremony at the Kyabram Recreation Reserve on August 10, 1927. The ambulance was light blue in colour and had louvred ventilation.
1932: CWA – Country Women’s Association was formed in Kyabram.
1933: Opening of the Kyabram Bush Nursing Hospital on the south-east corner of Allan & Saunders Sts – now the Kyabram Club. Old medical equipment and Dr W A Bossence sign is on display.
1936: The Kyabram Lawn Tennis Courts were officially opened by Mr J A Finlay of ‘Killamont’.
1937: Opening of Kyabram Saleyards on the corner of Albion St and Saleyards Rd (now Forrest St). The Saleyard bell is on display; many years later it was used by Santa at Christmas parties.
1938: The Pavilion of the Kyabram Lawn Tennis Courts was officially opened by Mr J A Finlay.
1938: Pettifer’s Ladies & Children’s Drapery Store was erected by Mr Jack Pettifer in art deco style.
1939: World War II
1940: The model seated in the window is wearing a 1940s fox fur — a fashion style of that time.
The Kyabram Club’s ‘Congratulations Kyabram, 150 years’ wine will continue to feature in the window.

The trumpets have stayed in the window since the first display when the theme was “Let’s bring on the music.”
