Filming of the Kyabram Greens Estate development commerical, featuring Australia Day “Lambassador’’ Sam Kekovich, will take place at the Parkland Golf Club tomorrow (Thursday, January 19) after a delay to the promotion caused by illness to the former North Melbourne goal-kicking legend.
Kekovich was due to film the commercial in December last year when he fell ill during the filming of the latest Australia Day advert and ended up in hospital.
The 205-lot Kyabram estate runs at the rear of the golf club, bordered by South Boundary Rd and McEwen Rd at the south-west entrance to the town.
Kekovich, who has featured for several years as the face of Australian Lamb in the lead up to Australia Day, is most recently shown being banished for the “Un-Australian’’ act of saying ”bon appetit’’ prior to his barbecue guests embarking on their lamb delicacy.
Other un-Australian crimes include switching off the test cricket and not knowing the second verse of Cold Chisel song Khe Sanh.
The advert comes on the back of a 2022 YouGov survey that asked more than 1000 Australians what they considered to be an un-Australian act.
Ranking among the top reasons was now knowing who Shane Warne was, getting married on grand final day or supporting New Zealand in any form of world competition.
A Bunnings store without a sausage sizzle and using cutlery to eat a meat pie also ranked high on the list.
The new Kyabram Greens Estate includes plans for 35 homes to front directly onto the rear of the golf course and 26 blocks are part of the first stage — of a planned seven stages.
