The unit’s visit was made possible by the Lions V Districts Cancer Foundation, which is supported by Lions Clubs in Victoria and Southern NSW, as well as generous public and private supporters.
Toc Lions secretary Carol Kennedy said across the two days, about 102 locals took advantage of the unit’s visit.
“The unit is operated by fully trained, certified, and professionally supervised volunteer dermoscopists.
“It is not a medical clinic, but simply provides the skin check and alerts the visitor to skin lesions that require further checking and attention.
“On average, 70 per cent of the people tested over the weekend were issued a referral for their GP.”
The Cancer Foundation is looking for anyone who would like to train as a dermoscopist. If you are interested, phone 0412 396 763.
