Taking off from Tocumwal airport, they headed along the Murray River turning at Tuppal station and heading back along the Riverina Highway over Finley before returning safely to Tocumwal.
Mr Ward said Lyle was “sensational” and made him feel very comfortable, giving an insight into the workings of the aircraft whilst cruising at 2000 feet.
“Apart from a few bumps along the way it was the perfect flight with a textbook landing,” Mr Ward said.
“Lyle is an exceptional young man who has pursued this training on his own, with the help of his parents David and Vicki.”
Lyle has ambitions of attending further flight training at a flight academy in Queensland when he completes his training, and hopefully one day flying for one of the commercial airlines.

An enthusiastic group of attendees from within the Berrigan Shire, as well as several people from Cobram, interacted well with Fiona Elms, Finley’s Regional Care director of clinical services, at the Finley RS Club last Thursday when she spoke on the difficult subject of interacting with family members who do not accept that their loved one has memory loss or dementia.
This was No. 5 in the Unlocking Hope – Understanding Dementia series of presentations organised by the Berrigan Shire Dementia Alliance.
The quality and number of the questions from the attendees were an excellent indication of the value of Fiona’s presentation.
The alliance is very much looking forward to Unlocking Hope No. 6 which will seek to clarify the mysteries of My Aged Care Home Care packages and assist attendees with knowledge on how best to use them.
This presentation will take place at the Finley RS Club on Thursday, April 11 from 10.15am.

The Finley Wednesday Quilt and Craft Ladies held a successful quilt exhibit on Saturday.
Dozens of beautiful quilts as well as knitted and crocheted blankets were on display in the Anglican Church Hall, many of which are to be donated to the families who lost their homes in bush fires at Pomonal in the Victorian western district.
The raffle prize of a beautiful autumn toned queen size quilt that had been donated unfinished and finally finished by Jill Braybon was won by Julie Gregory.
More than $1000 was raised on the day which will assist with the group funding the purchase of a sewing machine to be permanently situated in the hall for members to use.
The group also has plans to purchase some new bedding and towels to go with donated goods for the bush fire victims.
The organisers would like to thank all those who contributed in any way to make the event so successful. A lovely afternoon tea was included in the entry fee.
The Finley Wednesday Quilt and Craft Ladies meet every Wednesday in the Anglican Church Hall from 10am until 2pm. New members are always welcome.
