The St Augustine's College students decided to part ways with their hair to raise money for the Kyabram Gift, which helps families deal with cancer.
And Nate reckons they have got the perfect person to do the job.
“My dad is bald, so he will shave my head because he knows how to do it,” he said.
Mia is feeling a little unsure about losing her lush hair, which goes all the way to her waist.
But she is determined to help people.
“There are people that have lost their hair during treatment, and I think it's good to help them and raise money,” she said.
The trio are inspired by their mum and aunty, who have both been involved with the Gift.
Three years ago, Mia's mum, Mel, shaved her own head as a fundraiser.
“My husband had cancer when Mia was just over a year old,” she said.
“We received help from the Gift and I wanted to give something back."
Mel has since become a counsellor for the Gift, and Nate's mum Bec has been a committee member for the organisation.
“We are really proud of both of them,” Bec said.
“We've seen how grateful Gift recipients are. Sometimes something as simple as being given the right change so that you can park at the hospital can make a huge difference, small things really are the big things when you're going through something like that.”
Mia and Nate are hoping to get as many people as possible to St Augustine's College at the Brigidine Centre this Saturday, November 9 to take part in the head-shave event.
It will be a real party — including dancing, face paint, raffles (with some excellent prizes), games, food and drink and a spinning wheel.
It will run from 11am to 2pm, with the shave happening at 1pm.
And of course, all the profits go right back to the Gift.
Tickets are $5.50 per person and kids under two enter free. Book your tickets at trybooking.com/563089 or head to the Gift Facebook page for more details.
