They’ll be holding a lunch with snacks, breakfast and toiletry packs available for those in need at Victoria Park Lake on Thursday, April 11.
Billi said her son Jai came up with the wonderful idea.
“My eight-year-old son had the idea,” she said.
“One day we bought a lady a bottle of water, and my son asked ‘why can’t we do this for everyone?’ so we’re going to do our best.”
In addition to providing support to those in need, the lunch cause hits close to home for Billi and Jai.
“We were homeless once, and lots of people supported us. This is an opportunity for us to give back,” she said.
They’re ready to go with a variety of food and snacks on offer, most of which Billi has bought herself.
“I’ve prepared about 150 snack packs with non-perishable food such as popcorn, sultanas and other things,” Billi said.
“People have donated some toiletry (and) breakfast packs.
“The toiletry packs have things like deodorant, wipes and tissues, and the brekkie packs have Weet-bix, cornflakes, coffee, tea and other stuff as well.”
In addition to the packs people can come and grab, there will also be a sausage sizzle and other food, such as pancakes, fruit and sandwiches available.
No photos or videos will be taken of the people who attend; Billi just wants to pay it forward and help out people who need a little bit of extra support.
“Not everyone can afford to eat, live or work right now, after the pandemic and because of the cost of living, so we’d like to help as best we can,“ Billi said.
“I really hope people who are struggling can make it.”
Catch Billi and Jai at Victoria Park Lake along Wyndham St at 10am on Thursday, April 11.
