Dr Ike will be setting up a medical practice in the centre of the Tocumwal CBD in the near future which should prove a great boost to the town’s health services.
Dr Ike has been practising in Tumbaruma for the past eight years and is looking forward to opening another practice in this area.
When asked his reason for coming to Tocumwal he replied: “When I made inquiries for a town which really needed more doctors, particularly one who could visit the hospital, I was told Tocumwal was in dire need.”
When the practice is fully set up, Dr Ike will be applying to Murrumbidgee Health Services for Visiting Medical Officer status.
The new clinic, which will be known as Tocumwal Doctors, will be situated in the building formerly used by the National Australia Bank, which is currently being fitted out to cater to the needs of a medical practice.
Chioma, who is a registered nurse, will be the practice manager and is looking forward to becoming involved, particularly in the early stages.
It is expected that there will be two doctors available for consultation which will be a huge advantage as Tocumwal continues to expand.
The couple have two children, currently attending school and university in Geelong.
The official opening date for Tocumwal Doctors has not been set, however it is expected to be as soon as possible after the alterations have been carried out at the clinic.
Dr Ike and Chioma were thrilled to have their friends, Esther and Femi Jegede come from Shepparton for a catch up while they were here.
