Emergency services were called to a crash at the Macauley St and Harfleur St intersection about 7.30am Tuesday.
Smoke was seen coming from the car, which had crashed into and snapped a power pole.
The pole had landed on the road, and Deniliquin Fire + Rescue NSW Deputy Captain Les Booth said the driver of the vehicle was not with the car.
Electrical wires had also come loose, requiring assistance from Essential Energy contacted.
Murray River Police District Detective Chief Inspector Michael Fuller said investigations led police to a George St home, where they spoke to a 24 year-old male.
“The man will now appear at the Deniliquin Local Court in relation to negligent driving and drive whilst disqualified,” Det Chief Insp Fuller said.
“The scene was cleared, with some traffic disruption occurring whilst that took place.”
Intimidation arrest
A 60 year-old woman has been charged with intimidation after an incident in east Denilqiuin on Tuesday.
Police were called to Duncan St about 1pm and spoke to the woman, who was later arrested and charged.
She is due to appear at the Deniliquin Local Court on November 11.
Shed break-in
Police are investigating the theft of a number of batteries from a Perry Pine communications shed.
The shed, located on the Cobb Highway, was entered sometime between 5pm Saturday and 10.15am Sunday.
