The Kyabram Gift’s town-wide garage sale is returning this October, with organisers calling on locals to put their homes on the map and help raise much-needed funds for people living with cancer.
The fundraiser comes as The Kyabram Gift faces a drop in donations, with the charity relying on its cash reserves to continue supporting people affected by cancer.
“We’re getting to the point where we’re dipping into our last resorts of funds that we’ve fundraised over the last 12 or so years,” The Kyabram Gift committee member Claudia Moore said.
The event will see households across Kyabram open their garages and driveways to shoppers, with organisers hoping to attract people from outside the town.
“By having more houses available, we’re able to advertise that and then get external people in, which is obviously then bringing money from outside of town into the town, but it’s also then supporting the charity,” Ms Moore said.
With more than 35 people currently receiving support from The Kyabram Gift, organisers are hoping the garage sale can help bring much-needed funds back into the organisation and ensure it can continue supporting locals living with cancer.
Households can register for $30 and choose to hold their garage sale on Saturday, October 24, Sunday, October 25, or both days.
