Queenie Dixon was a Life Member of the croquet club, having contributed greatly over a number of years. She played pennant croquet into her 90s, and is fondly remembered and honoured with this annual event.
Twenty-eight players from five clubs played in a friendly atmosphere and mostly good weather, only a brief shower near the end of the day.
The winner was Trevor Peters of Mooroopna, who won all four of his games and had a nett hoop score of 14. It was Trevor’s lucky day — he also won the lucky door prize of a $25 Coles Myer gift card.
Runner-up was Jill Graham of Echuca-Moama who won three games and also had a nett hoop score of 14.
The club also presented an Encouragement Award to the person with the best score of the players with higher handicaps of 12 and 14. This went to Rick Finch of Rich River who won three of his games and had a nett hoop score of 10.
Loretta Gawne of Mooroopna starred in the jump shot competition with three, and also scored a hoop in one. Other prizes for hoops in one went to Mavis Peters of Echuca-Moama, Kaye Joyce of Rich River, Thelma O'Keefe of Kyabram and Lyn Keilor of Echuca-Moama.
The club greatly appreciated sponsorship from FarrierVet of Lancaster for the cash and lucky door prizes.
Kyabram Croquet Club plays on Tuesday and Friday mornings at 9.30am and Sunday afternoons at 1pm. The club always welcomes new players.
