Fr Brian, administrator of the Cathedral Cluster of parishes, will serve in this new role until the installation of the ninth bishop of Sandhurst.
Having worked closely with Archbishop Shane Mackinlay for more than 20 years in the Diocese of Sandhurst and at Catholic Theological College, Fr Brian is well-placed to “remain faithful to the direction set by the former bishop”, ensuring continuity across several key diocesan initiatives.
Fr Brian brings a wealth of relevant experience to his new role — as a priest, an academic, an educator and fraternal leader.
He holds a Licentiate and Doctorate in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and served as Dean of Studies at Corpus Christi College, Carlton from 2015 to 2020.
In Sandhurst, he has served as Episcopal Vicar for Education since 2014 and is a Member of Catholic Education Sandhurst Ltd.
He was a member of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart before being incardinated into the Diocese of Sandhurst in 2012.
Eight days of free travel
Victorian Seniors Card holders are being encouraged to use eight days of free public transport to explore thousands of Seniors Festival events this October.
The free travel — from October 5 to October 12 — applies for all forms of public transport, including trains, trams, buses and coach services across metro and regional areas.
Seniors Card holders will need to carry their card while travelling, and touch on and off with their seniors myki as usual — but no fare will be charged. On non-myki services, seniors can simply show their Seniors Card to the conductor or bus driver.
This initiative is in addition to the Victorian Government extending free weekend travel to be statewide for more than 650,000 Victorian Seniors Card holders from January 1, 2026 — allowing them to catch a train, tram or bus statewide at no cost and making it easier to stay connected with family, friends and the community.

Vote for your favourite
We all know Victoria has the best food — and now it’s time to settle the score.
It’s why the Victorian Government has launched Vic’s Picks, a new celebration of the food, culture and community spirit that make us proud to be Victorian.
Victorians have until October 19 to cast their votes for their favourite pie, bánh mì and potato cake — with the top entry in each category to be crowned Victoria’s Pick.
The Vic’s Picks awards will shine a spotlight on the small businesses that bring communities together, create local jobs and make our suburbs, towns and regions proud.
Every vote cast is a chance to back the local legends who turn everyday bites into state pride.
