The festival will feature market stalls, children’s entertainment, live music and vintage steam engines in the historic median strip.
Rushworth Heritage Easter Festival co-ordinator Lyn Reade said this year’s event would include many traditional attractions alongside new additions.
“This year we will have a lot of the usual things,” she said.
“We have the big red dragon, we have the CWA doing morning teas.
“We have got Shearing for Kids with Cancer doing a wood auction.”

A new feature this year will be a children’s sensory space.
“We have also got a children's sensory space this year, which is a bit special, and something new,” Mrs Reade said.
“We have roving entertainers, Tiny Tails reptiles will be there as well.
“The usual face painting, twisty balloons and glitter tattoos to keep the kids happy.”
The festival will include a dog show with three categories at 10am, with no entry charge.
“The first one is going to be the best-dressed dog, which is a bit of a staple because people love dressing their pets up,” Mrs Reade said.
“Then there is what we are calling the most stylish jump; instead of separating big and small dogs, we are just having one size fits all and the best trick.”
A heritage costume competition will replace the traditional Easter bonnet competition this year.
“We have two categories for the heritage costume, one for children and one for adults,” Mrs Reade said.
“We say heritage, but heritage can be anything from the Queen of England or a convict to a housemaid, teacher, whatever you like.
“That starts at 10.30am at the railway line with prize packs for first, second and third for all categories and all the prize packs are made up with vouchers from local businesses.
“It is a great community event and it brings all sorts of people together from right across the area.
“It is not restricted to Rushworth.
“We have got a lot of local towns who have contributed vouchers and things to our prize pool.”
The heritage parade will feature working horses from Moora leading, followed by steam machines including 'the Wizard', described as “a bit of an icon around Rushworth”.
Vintage and classic cars and trucks will also participate.
The wood auction organised by Shearing for Kids with Cancer will take place at 11am on Moora Rd, with shearing demonstrations at 9am and 10am.
An Easter egg hunt will begin the day’s festivities at the Community House at 9am.
“There is everything that families will enjoy at very little cost, apart from food and whatever they buy at the market stalls,” Mrs Reade said.
She thanked supporters and sponsors of the event, including Community Bank Rushworth and Shannons Insurance.
Activities at the festival will include a dog show with categories such as best-dressed dog and most stylish jump, as well as a heritage costume competition for both children and adults.
