The Rushworth Field and Game Club has received valuable assistance from local schools, with students from Rushworth Kindergarten and Rushworth P-12 College actively contributing to conservation efforts in the area.
On May 15, Rushworth Kindergarten children visited the clubrooms for an educational session about the field and game group’s vital role in protecting local wildlife.
The kids also got to try their hand at painting nest boxes, learning how the boxes work for breeding birds and the impact they have on the environment.
The club also welcomed the help of students from Rushworth P-12 College, who set up parrot nesting boxes on the school grounds on Wednesday, June 4.

The boxes were made and painted over a few weeks by the students themselves, and conservation officer Graeme Wall said he hoped the program would continue with their help.
“It is hoped that there will be a good uptake of these boxes over the next few months to build on the students’ enthusiasm,” he said.
“We will be continuing to build and repair boxes over the next few months, with another major installation site to be confirmed shortly.”
The group hosts weekly working bee sessions every Wednesday at 9am, welcoming all community members interested in contributing to conservation efforts, with coffee included for slow risers.
