It might sound like a cliche, but that’s exactly how Sarah Bain came to return to her role with the Southern Riverina News this week.
Sarah had worked in advertising and sales role with our publication, on and off, for a number of years until about four years ago.
After the birth of her third child with husband Kyel, she decided to take time out for family.
When Ava was old enough to go into care, and with older sisters Savannah and Indi already in primary school, Sarah then forged a path in politics working with former Federal Nations Senator Perin Davey at her Deniliquin office.
Unfortunately, Ms Davey was not re-elected in May.
It would Sarah without a job after June 30, but as luck would have it, the timing coincided with the SRN’s recruitment for a sales consultant.
And with long-time SRN administrative and sales support staff member Carol Kennedy retiring in the same period, Sarah comes on board in a sales and office manager role.
“As a Blighty local with continuing connections to the Southern Riverina community, my heart has always been with the SRN,” Sarah said.
“I have always loved this job, and the people I work with - both our team and the community members who support our local newspaper.
“I’m excited to get back into the media, and back in this community to play a role in bringing you the news each week.
“You will see me out and about quite often. So feel free to stop me, drop into the SRN office, or give me a call in the office to discuss your needs.”
Outside of her role with the SRN, Sarah is also associated with the Blighty Football Netball Club and has recently been appointed secretary of Biralee Preschool, where Ava is educated.
