With more than 500 matches between them, Harvey and Harris will conduct the club’s first training session for the year.
President Andrew Hipwell said the season launch was a great opportunity for young players to learn from the best.
“We welcome players of any skill level or gender to come along and consider being part of the club,” he said.
“Brent Harvey needs no introduction and Daniel is a local who we’ve worked with before and is always a hit with the kids.”
Hipwell said following a successful AGM and the installation of a new 16-strong committee, the SGR Giants were optimistic about season 2019.
He said he was delighted with the growth of the committee and the strong pledge of support from the local football clubs in the region.
“Our club is looking forward to the 2019 season with a high level of optimism and enthusiasm. We have had meetings with all of our aligned senior clubs and, without exception, they have all indicated a desire to provide a high level of support to the SGR Giants moving forward,” he said.
“We are a small club, with a strong community focus. Our club is really committed to providing opportunities for young people from within our broader community to play football and we see the SGR Giants as an ideal platform to enable this to happen.”
With strong numbers, the club is looking at having two under-10 sides and will operate under an updated constitution in 2019.
“As a club, we are extremely grateful to AFL Goulburn Murray for their outstanding support in helping us develop a constitution that is more appropriate to the contemporary needs of our club,” Hipwell said.
The season opener is on March 17 from 10.30am at the Rushworth football oval.
All under-10, 12 and 14 prospective players and families are welcome to come and stay after training for a barbecue, player registrations and an information session.
Club merchandise will also be available on the day.
