∎ Three members met three sister branch (Yarrawonga and Border) members at Shepparton Art Museum recently and enjoyed an interesting day viewing artistic displays. We concluded our time together with a delicious lunch in the café within the building. All very spacious and grand.
∎ GV West Group Exhibition was held in Victory Hall, Tatura, on September 11 and was well attended. Sheridan gained second prize in the branch entry with all items being in shades of yellow. Spectacular entries with each branch given a different colour to build their entries around. Interesting.
Best in Preserves was won by Doreen Napier, while other members gained individual awards.
Three volunteered as stewards and subsequently attended a post-exhibition meeting following the event.
It was deemed a most successful day by quality/standard of about 300 entries and socially.
Following discussion, all representatives agreed to have a display at Exhibition 2023, of Old Sewing Requisites — will be a fun display with lots of memorabilia and “remember that” or “Mum had that” etc.
This year a large array of tea pots created interest with a wide variety of shapes, sizes etc.
Four at group craft last week, two made red felt hearts for oncology and two embroidered frig magnets. Cute.
∎ Several attended the Mooroopna branch’s “Spring into Spring” on Sunday, October 2, at Mooroopna Community Centre where guest speaker was Michelle Banfield from Flourish on McLennan Garden Centre at Mooroopna.
∎ Members to sell Raffle tickets at Safeway on Thursday, October 13, from 10am to 4pm. Roster arranged.
Secretary to purchase a box of groceries for first prize. Will be further draws on the day.
∎ GV West Group will travel to a Craft day at Echuca CWA rooms Monday, October 17. List of requirements has been circulated to those who wish to attend.
∎ A member has attended shows in a judging capacity, including Melbourne Royal and local ag shows.
A great experience out in the wider communities.
∎ Berrie reported nine present at September Craft. Next craft 10am at 39 Warramunda Dve, October 12. Take 1 ball 8 ply wool/yarn, and size 9 needles to make a Tea Cosy. BYO lunch. Thanks Berrie for soup and scones or whatever each month.
∎ Five rugs were delivered to KCLC this week for distribution to the needy.
∎ Next meeting will be the annual general meeting with group president and group secretary present for installation of office bearers. Will be at the Baptist Church meeting room 1.30pm sharp (please be early) on Wednesday, October 26. A plate of An/tea and at least one spray each please. Office bearers to have a written report and polish badges that require a spruce up.
As our year ended last week (September 30) subs are now due. Treasurer Margaret will be pleased to receive payment ASAP thank you.
