Over 60,000 free registrations have been issued to apprentices who rely on their vehicle to get to work, training and job sites.
The Victorian Government’s Trade Apprentice Registration Discount scheme means apprentices save up to $930 every year, with over 22,000 apprentices and trainees benefiting from the scheme so far.
Skills and TAFE Minister Colin Brooks said the program helped apprentices focus on building their skills and training.
“This is helping ease cost-of-living pressures while supporting the next generation of skilled workers,” he said.
Registration support will reach more Victorians from June 1, with a registration rebate available for eligible motorists.
The rebate will refund motorists back 20 per cent of their registration payment for 2025/26.
Victorians will have two months to claim their rebates, with applications closing on July 31.
It will be open to those who own light vehicles for personal use and includes cars, utes, and anything under 4.5 tonnes.
The government said both schemes aimed to put money back into the pockets of Victorians.
Eligible apprentices can apply through the myVicRoads portal at vicroads.vic.gov.au.
