Crowd favourites: While not all the primary schoolers were across exactly who teachers Liana Haw and Maree Holyman were — Lloyd and Harry (characters portrayed by Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels in the 1994 comedy movie Dumb and Dumber — they were a very popular addition to the event with more senior members of the large audience.
Apple a day: Dani Dodman distributes apples to students in true “Snow White’’ style.
That’s cold: Having completed the slide into the ice cold water there was a different expression on the face of “Snow White” soon after her slide.
Head first: Grace Hammond had no fear in tackling the slide in a more unusual manner than the remaining sliders.
Cowgirl: Nikeya Haw as Jessie the Cowgirl was a popular figure with children who had an affinity for the Toy Story character, particularly when attempted to herd the mad cow (Grace Hammond’s character) toward the slide.
Look, no hands: Liana Haw and Maree Holyman midway through their slide.
Ice queen: Ella Forde was one of the students charged with the responsibility for re-filling the pool of water at the bottom of the slide with ice.
Beannie boys: Bobby Biggin and Zayden Williams turned blue for the evening.
Slip, sliding away: Tongala jockey Rose Hammond is used to taking on high-paced challenges, but even she had a concerned expression across her face as she slid into the water. Later in the event her sister, Grace, was also a slider.
Can’t “bear” to look: Pauline Hendriks as Cheer Bear (of Care Bears fame), mid-way down the slide before coming to an abrupt halt at the bottom.
Mystery slider: Former Tongala teacher Rod Alley returned to the school for the Big Freeze event and was the last of the sliders to make the four-metre descent into the icy water — as Ronnie from Tonny.
In character: Jade Holloway channelled her inner school girl to pull off a fantastic Wednesday Addams, exchanging her usual blonde hair and pleasant smile for the dark long plaits and sour face (complete with tongue out).
