The college was awarded a 2025 Catholic Capital Grant with funding support under the Federal Government Capital Grants Program.
With the total projected cost of the build valued at $5.12 million, the project is funded in part by the $2.4 million capital grant awarded to the college in late 2024.

Designed to house the school’s Year 9 and 10 cohort, the building will include six general learning areas, including two science rooms, staff offices and student amenities.
St Augustine’s business manager Linda Morris said once the new classrooms became available, one of the school’s old wings would be demolished to open up further play space to students.
St Augustine’s principal Tim Campbell said it was a good opportunity for Years 9 to 12 to have their own courtyard spaces and better developed senior school opportunities.
The design, which was developed collaboratively between the college and architects, will feature a continuation of the college’s themes and symbols including the brigidine cross and the school’s three houses.
Other goals for the space include sliding doors to join classrooms for bigger learning spaces and natural light to create an inviting space for students.
Mr Campbell said the project also came with further development of other areas including the current senior school building which is undergoing refurbishment to create a better working space with more advanced features.
“Because the school’s kind of evolved and grown over recent years, so some of the design things that were put in initially in previous builds may not necessarily be suitable now,” Mrs Morris said.
The grant awarded to St Augustine’s for this project, acknowledges the need for improved classrooms and facilities, as the college marks 122 years of education in Kyabram this year.
The college is working closely with Catholic Education Sandhurst and architects to ensure the project’s timeline is effective and not causing disruption, with large parts of the project to be built during school holidays.
The project is expected to be completed in February 2027.
There may be disruptions along Tulloh St while the project is under construction.
