Community connections co-ordinator Janine Kreymborg said the event was the first of its kind at the college.
Inspired by the annual Legacy lunch two weeks ago attended by captains, the school decided to host a similar event that included more students.

“We thought we’d bring it here and get more of our students involved, like the Year 10s cooking, our primary captains, and it is bridging that gap,” Ms Kreymborg said.
“We thought about doing this for our students to give back to Legacy, and acknowledge the ladies and what their husbands stood for.”

Cooking students prepared and served the food for the 40 or so attendees, which included the college’s principal team and chaplain Liz Spicer.
The food was purchased thanks to a donation by the chaplaincy, and the crockery was provided by the Kyabram Uniting Church.

The college’s primary captains also greeted their guests at the front of the school, with some travelling by bus from Warramunda Village.
Ms Kreymborg said she hoped to make the luncheon an annual event, ensuring different students were involved each year.

“There’ll be new Year 10s coming in, new captains. If we start now, especially with the younger captains in primary, they’ll carry it through with them,” she said.
“It’s good for the kids to speak to the older ladies and gentlemen, and vice versa. I think it’s great.”
