The annual Mother’s Day Classic, is one way thousands from across the country honour all mums — those still with us, others who are not.
Now in its 28th year, the classic boosts women's health and saves lives, while uniting for breast and ovarian cancer research.
Not everyone is able to attend the major events in capital cities across the country, so there is no reason you cannot head along to an event a little closer to home.
Hopwood Gardens, Echuca is set to fill up on the morning of Mother’s Day as guests gather to take part in the Mother’s Day Classic on Sunday, May 11.
The event aims to raise funds in support of breast and ovarian cancer research.
Event organiser Emma Godden said the event was a good way to celebrate mothers who were suffering from cancer.
“This is an amazing event to encourage celebrations of mothers who have breast cancer, ovarian cancer and to get together for a fun day for this fantastic cause,” she said.
“Wear something fun, bright pink, have your smile on your face for the day, bring your drink bottles and dogs are welcome, but please always keep them on the leads.”
Participants have the option to take part in an 8km run, 4km run or a 4km walk.
From 7.45am Snap Fitness Echuca will be running warm-ups at Hopwood Gardens before the first wave sets off for the 8km run at 8am.
Those doing the 4km run will follow at 8.15am before the walkers set off at 9am.
There will be a raffle happening on the day to raise more funds, with three prizes to be won.
Pixie Dust will be keeping children entertained with face painting and the Let's Do Coffee cart will be selling coffee from 7.30am.
About 250 people have already registered to take part in the day.
Online registrations will close on Wednesday, May 7, however people are still able to register on the day.

A Mother’s Day Classic event will also be held in Shepparton on Sunday.
With 300 to 400 participants expected to create a sea of pink and teal around Victoria Park Lake, it’s certainly not too late to plan your outfit and get among the fun.
Raising awareness and funds for breast and ovarian cancer research, the Mother’s Day Classic has grown from a simple walk in the park to an iconic event on the Australian calendar.

Over the years, the Mother’s Day Classic has donated more than $47 million to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Last year, attendees were able to choose to fundraise not only for breast cancer research, but also for that of ovarian cancer.
Some $1.2 million was donated in 2024 to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation, while $2.1 million was donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
This year, the event will do the same, and is hoping to attract more participants than ever before.
Events will also be held at Seymour, at Lions Park from 9am, and Alexandra, Yea and District, at Yea Station Park from 8.30am.
