Featuring artists Heather Turner, Joan Leeder, Margaret Wilson, Joan Corner, Jenny Douglas, Lea Watts and Gillian Banks, the artwork showcases natural fibres found in swamps, trees, home gardens, public gardens, and parks to be woven into baskets.
Ms Watts said being a part of the group has been a great learning experience for her.
“I enjoy being able to make useful, fun or decorative items from the rawest of fibres, often having no preconceived idea of what may develop but knowing the fibres will lend themselves to forming the end product,” she said.
Also opening on February 5 is Colour and Form, a textile art exhibition by Leslie Edwards.
This exhibition will run until April 4, featuring her collection of handmade quilts.
Ms Edward’s exhibition showcases an array of unconventional materials, techniques and designs throughout.
“Textiles are more than just fabrics. They are a way of exploring creativity, innovation and expression,” she said.
“I am a textile artist who loves experimenting with different fibres, stitches and colours. I like to push the limits of what textiles can do and how they can communicate.”
Kyabram Town Hall Gallery is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm and is located at 119 Allan St, Kyabram.
