The project is one of five suites being developed, and is the first step in expanding the facility from 82 to 130 beds over the next five years.
Chief executive John Clark said the project reflected growing demand for high-quality care and a commitment to leading change in the sector.
“Our focus is on making sure that when people do enter residential aged care, they are welcomed into a setting that feels like home,” he said.
“We’re moving away from purely recreational designs toward flexible, well-appointed accommodation that supports comfort, safety and dignity — especially for those with more complex needs.”
Underused recreational spaces in the Saunders St wing will be redeveloped into five premium rooms as part of this round of works.
Two of the five rooms are expected to be finished at the end of July, with the remainder to be finished by November.
Renovation works will soon begin in the Rockman wing of the village, where 10 additional residential suites are planned to be built by late next year.
The village currently has a waiting list of people wanting to become residents, and the additional suites are planned to accommodate demand.
“Even while renovations are under way, we’re keeping daily operations running smoothly,” Mr Clark said.
“Residents continue to enjoy their usual routines with very minimal disruption, and that’s a testament to the professionalism of our staff and project partners.”
Nationally, the introduction of a new Aged Care Act that updates standards of care will come into effect later this year.
Mr Clark said the village’s expansion was part of an Australia-wide movement, with aged care providers re-thinking their services to meet modern expectations.
“We’re not just reacting, we’re helping to lead that change by future-proofing our village and demonstrating what aged care excellence looks like in a modern setting,” he said.
The expansion, led by the village’s internal project control group, also supports growing allied health offerings and improving integrated care on-site.
