Goulburn Valley Water is encouraging residents to learn more about the world of water this month and is opening water treatment plants to the public at Mansfield, Seymour and Kyabram as part of National Water Week.
The community tours will provide participants with an insight into how Goulburn Valley Water delivers services to customers and give those keen to get a closer look at the water tank mural the chance to do just that.
The Kyabram tour will include a light dinner and starts at 5.30pm on Friday.
Goulburn Valley Water managing director Steve Capewell said the tours were a great opportunity for a rare insight behind the scenes at three water treatment plants.
“National Water Week is a great opportunity to learn more about where your water comes from and the process we go through to filter and treat it to high standards to ensure it’s safe to drink,” Dr Capewell said.
“It’s also a great reminder of how important it is to be waterwise, to conserve water for future generations to enjoy and how much we rely on water in our daily lives, from drinking and cooking to hygiene, cleaning and recreation.”
Students across the Goulburn Valley have also been creating water-themed works of art. They made door hanger artwork highlighting the message of ‘every drop counts’.
Finalists will be announced this week.
