Areas around the region experienced a wet 24 hours to 9am on Monday, August 10, leading to flood watches and warnings in northern Victoria.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology many towns around the region recorded half of their average August totals in under 24 hours.
Benalla recorded 50mm of rain. This compares to its August average of 71mm.
Shepparton recorded 40mm. This compares to its usual August average of 51mm.
Kyabram recorded 33mm during the same period, with its monthly average being 41.8mm.
Echuca meanwhile recorded 32mm, with its August average being 41mm.
The significant rainfall resulted in flood warnings being issued for some rivers and creeks in the region.
Further showers are forecast for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week across the northern country.
