The Community Christmas group are very grateful to the Moira Shire festive funding program, Rich Glen, Yarrawonga News and Gifts, Bunnings Yarrawonga and Yarrawonga Mulwala Business and Tourism for their donations to the replace broken baubles, fairy lights as well as the purchasing of the bin art design and installation, which was completed by Deep Cuts and Layers.
Moira Shire Council helped to spread Christmas cheer through its Festive Funding program with $16,000 in grants supporting community groups and organisations with festive season events and activities, covering costs for decorations, entertainment and other needs.
“Council’s Festive Funding program supports local groups in hosting events that celebrate this joyful time of year,” chair administrator Dr Graeme Emonson said.
“We’re excited to see a variety of events across our larger towns as well as smaller communities like Kaarimba, Wunghnu and St James.”
The Festive Funding program offers up to $1000 for groups in smaller towns and up to $2000 for larger towns.
Penne Tregenza said the support the Yarrawonga Community Christmas Group had had received since forming a few years ago was great, but they were always after more members and ideas.
“We want to improve the decorations and installs we currently have so if anyone wants to join the committee or have ideas on how we can spread the festive spirit please get in touch,” she said.
“We are grateful for the few community members who supported us with donations or who gave up some of their Sunday to help install the decorations.
“If anyone would be available in mid January to help us take down the decorations, please also get in contact.”
