Police allege a 17-year-old boy armed with a machete forced his way into a Shepparton property and assaulted a 15-year-old boy, who was in bed.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said the 15-year-old was initially taken to Goulburn Valley Health by road ambulance, before being flown to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
He had upper and lower body injuries and was in a serious condition when he was flown to Melbourne, the Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said.
The 17-year-old from Greater Shepparton handed himself in to police.
He has been charged with aggravated burglary, intentionally causing injury, and possessing a prohibited weapon, among other charges.
Police said it was believed the boys were known to each other.
