The teenage sensation has taken the 2024-25 circuit by storm and added his fourth, and final, state title for the season to his rapidly growing trophy cabinet.
Rodriguez and his team travelled to Toowoomba Speedway on Saturday, May 17 to compete in the Queensland Compact Speedcars State Title, which was the last Australian Compact Speedcars Association state and national title for the season.
After winning his first heat and finishing runner-up in his second, Rodriguez qualified in pole position for the title race.
With the last dance set for 25 laps, there was a field full of big Compact Speedcar names, including current Australian champion Justin Paull, who made an early and rare mistake fighting for the lead, spinning out and falling to the back of the pack.
Defending champion Andrew Parkes could only manage sixth, while Queensland native Matt O’Neill kept the fight for the lead down to the second last lap, but was no match for the kid from Kyabram.
The freshly minted 16-year-old superstar etched his name in the history books in emphatic style, starting on pole and finishing there, covering himself in glory in the process.
Following the victory, Rodriguez holds four state titles concurrently, including the big three of Victoria, NSW and Queensland along with ACT for fun.
As Rodriguez looks to his future in the sport, priority number one for next season will be chasing down his white whale, the Australian title, one that he came oh so close to snagging earlier in the year.
Rodriguez also claimed another impressive win at Sydney International Speedway on Saturday, May 10 in the NSW Compact Speedcar Club’s 50 Lap Classic.
After starting in seventh in his first heat, he clawed his way to second and went from second to first in the second heat.
The final was a reverse grid which provided an extra challenge for Rodriguez, who wasn’t fazed, speeding his way from 14th to first to claim victory.
