Another Parkland title for Richards

Parkland prize: Brad Edwards nett 55 round was enough to secure him victory in the single’s stableford event.

Nathan Richards turned up the heat in Sunday’s 36-hole open at Parkland.

The former club champion showed his class by shooting 59 in the morning round then finished with two over 56 with a total of 115 to easily win the scratch event.

Runner-up was Ashley Kuiper from Valley View on 119.

The B-grade scratch event was won by Shepparton’s Greg Burness with 143, while Phil Plumb (145) was runner-up.

The men’s handicap winner from Shepparton was Geoff Hammill with a nett 105.

B-grade was won by Kyabram member Bob Smith with 106, while the women’s A-grade scratch was won by Parkland’s Trudie Plumb with a total of 154.

The handicap winner was Faye Glover on 118.

The single’s stableford event over 18 holes went to Brad Edwards with 55 nett.

Nearest the pins went to Tony Potts and John Thompson on the first, for the Minger’s prize.

Ken Campbell was nearest on the ninth, Phil Plumb on the 18th, Trudie Plumb was also nearest on the ninth and Lana McInnes on the 14th.

The team’s event went to Phil Plumb, Thompson, Les Mitchell, Nathan Richards and Stewart Laidlaw.

Ball winners were Jason McKenzie, Peter Toy, Steve Piggott, Ray Falla, Stewart Laidlaw, Greg Woods, Vin Sleeth and Jenni Todd.

Hinchliffe and Greed Real Estate was the major sponsor represented by John Lilford.

Thirty-six-hole champion: Nathan Richards chips onto the 11th green on Sunday in a two over round of 56, after an opening round 59 in the 36-hole championship.

The annual tournament finally got under way on Saturday with some doubt about the weather changing.

Right on cue at lunchtime the rain appeared again.

Forty-four players participated during the day with the Laidlaws Stuart and Vanessa winning the mixed Pinehurst with a nett score of 51.87.

Runner-up was Di Bruhn and Bob Smith with a nett 52.37. Third went to Dympna Hayes and Denis Ryan with a nett 53.5.

The scratch winners were Nola Arnold and Peter Barrette with 68.

Winner of the single’s stableford event was Scott McLennan with 38 points. Ball winners were Dot Atkinson/Tony Potts, Pauline Laidlaw/Les Mitchell, Trudie and Phil Plumb and Mick McInnes.

Nearest the pin went to Vanessa Laidlaw on the ninth and David Kuiper on the 18th. Chris Harmer was nearest on the first.

The sponsor was Kyabram Garden Club represented by Steve Graham and Marg Bowers.

The men played a stroke event on Wednesday with Tom McConchie winning A-grade with 63-13-50

B-grade went to Vin Sleeth on 69-17-52. Scott Childs won C-grade with 78-28-50. Runner-up was Tom Hogarty with 73-21-52. Third went to Luca Campanelli on 75-23-52.

Ball winners were Andrew Cleary, Paul Price, Les Mitchell, Roger Gillon, Chris Harmer, Fred Roberts and Ray Falla.

Nearest the pins went to Andre Cleary on the first. Hogarty was nearest on the ninth for the voucher from Ky Pizza and Pasta, Sleeth collected the voucher on the 15th courtesy of Clive Coventry Funeral, while Nick Sullivan won the voucher on the 18th from Kyabram Main Street Butchery.
