Held at the club’s Max Kirwan Ski Park, the Ski Show Nationals have been described as “the greatest show on water”, resembling a stage performance filled with entertainment, dancing and, of course, incredible water-skiing stunts. Spectators can expect trick skiing, jumps, ballet on water, pro wakeboarders, sky skis, breathtaking pyramids and much more.
Three state teams will compete for the national title: New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia.
The local NSW team is directed by experienced skiers Abbey Ellis (née Hicks) and Braden Ellis and will perform with a unique theme.
Members of the Mulwala Water Ski Club’s show team make up most of the NSW squad, which will be aiming to defend its title and claim a sixth national championship, further cementing its place as Australia’s elite show ski team.
Proudly hosted by the Victorian Southern Waters Ski Show Team and sponsored by the Mulwala Water Ski Club, the Ski Show Nationals promise an exhilarating and action-packed weekend of world-class show skiing, an event not to be missed.
Mulwala Water Ski Club coordinator Pete O’Neill said the team, made up of mums, dads and their children along with several experienced skiers, has been busily training at the park to ensure everything is in place to defend the national title they won in Mulwala in 2023.
“The best show skiers from across Australia will come together at Max Kirwan Ski Park to compete in both individual events on Friday and team events on Saturday and Sunday, showcasing incredible skill, precision and entertainment on the water,” Mr O’Neill said.
The action kicks off at 8am on Friday with individual and doubles swivel and freestyle jump competitions.
Team events begin at 8am on Saturday, with local skiers representing the NSW team performing at 11.40am.
Teams will then compete in the finals from 8am on Sunday.
Entry to the ski park is free.
