The scores were even with one end to play with Avenel scoring the winning shot on the last end, 23-22.
Ruth King, Fay Hateley, Kate Donovan, Grace Kenworthy (s) lost five of the last six ends to record an 11 shot loss, 18-29.
In division six, Avenel 0-24 was defeated by Colbinabbin 14-56.
Mark Morse, Marg Harrison, Ruth Underwood, Graeme Toy (s) were in the game until the lunch break, only three shot shots down.
From there, Colbinabbin took control winning all but one end to win the game, 22-9.
Norm Billingsley, Moiann Papageorgiou, Ron Harrison, Marion Gittus (s) also were well beaten after the lunch break only winning one end, 15-34.
Weekend pennant
In division three, Avenel 0-72 lost to Kyabram, 18-107.

With the scores even on end 22, Kyabram scored a five on the next end to claim a five-shot win 25-20.
Mary Black, Noel Slater, Charlie Kemp, Geoff Hateley (s) won more ends than Kyabram, but Kyabram won its ends with more scoring shots, beating Avenel 24-17.
Ruth King, Fay Hateley, Kate Donovan, Grace Kenworthy (s) were in chase mode all game.
A five to Kyabram on the second last end wrapped the game up for Kyabram, the side defeating Avenel, 28-20.
As hard as they tried, Ruth Underwood, Donna Rowley, Pam Pedder, James Wall (s) could not recover from losing seven consecutive ends, losing the game 15-30.
In division seven, Avenel 2-36 was defeated by Rushworth, 12-39.
The only shining light for Avenel was the rink of Kyle Pedder, Mark Morse, Ross Sinclair, Marion Gittus (s) who won 18 of the 21 ends played. Winning the first 11 ends, they powered home with a 14 shot win, 24-10.
Moiann Papageorgiou, Norm Billingsley, Ron Harrison, Graeme Toy (s) just couldn’t catch an accurate Rushworth rink, losing 12-29.
Avenel is running a Business Bowls Challenge on Wednesdays from November 15 through to December 6. The format is two games of six ends, two-bowl triples with a maximum of one pennant bowler per team. Entry is $60 a team for the four weeks with a very handsome cash prize to the overall winning team at the end of the four weeks.
