Down by eight points at half-time, the Bombers rallied to kick nine to four second half goals to run out convincing 31 point winners.
As well as going a long way in cementing a top six finish, the win also ousted the home side from the fight to play finals.
Currently in fourth spot on the ladder, the Bombers could still slip from the top six if they lost their remaining two games, against top side Shepparton this Saturday at Kyabram and then Euroa.
But they could still remain in the final even if this happens if other results go their way due to their healthy percentage.
The Bombers again had shining lights in its onballers with ruckman Zac Norris dominant again and Jack Russell and Kaine Herbert freeing up the ball from the stoppages all game.
And another two of their most reliable players, defenders Jason Mogan and Brad Whiford, were superb again.
Up forwards, the Bombers may have a seen a future star in thirds player Isaiah Scoble who kicked four telling goals in a crumbing role around the goals.
Captain Aiden Robinson played a game to remember in his 100th appearance with the team, also slotting four goals.
He was one of Kyabram’s players to lift teammates, particularly in the second half.
Riley Ironside was given a shutdown role in the second half and carried it out admirably on Mansfield danger player Jayden Howes who had been hurting the Bombers in the first half.
Coby McCarthy was another Bomber to help lift his team in the second half.
Apart from four goal hauls by Robinson and Scoble, Charlie Barnett, Kaine Herbert and Riley Gallivan also kept the scoreboard ticking over for the Bombers with two goals each.
And Kyabram’s defence, again led by Jason Morgan and Brad Whitford in professional style, locked down the Mansfield forward line, particularly after half-time.
The Bombers’ produced Noah Ryan came into the side to replace Tom Burnett, who suffered a quad injury at training during the week to add to Kyabram’s frustrating injury list.
Ryan, in only his second senior game, looked at home in Kyabram’s attack and presented at every chance.
The Bombers can make all finals and premiership aspirants elevate their eyebrows this Saturday if they can beat ladder leader Shepparton.
Shepparton handed out Kyabram’s biggest defeat for the season earlier in the year and a win would mean the Bomers have beaten the two top sides, Echuca is the other, in the space of three games.
They will have a 1996 reunion crowd to cheer them on, and it should be an absorbing contest.
Reserves
Kyabram’s reserves will get the chance to win back second place this Saturday after a big win over Mansfield this week.
The Bombers, currently in third place, are trailing second-placed Shepparton by a game but have a much superior percentage.
So, if they can beat the Bears this Saturday, they will regain second place and should hold it when they meet lowly Euroa in the final home-away-round.
The Bombers were always in control against Mansfield and only for inaccuracy at the goalmouth, they kicked 18 points, would have won by a lot more than 71 points.
Ruckman Brent Brasier turned in another top game, while Adam Pulsoni and Oscar Shortis were also influential players in the win.
So were forwards Jarryd Pertzel and Sam Sheldon who applied the scoreboard pressure with four goals each.
Under-18s
Nathaniel Gee showed the way for the Kyabram thirds, who also had a good win against Mansfield to hold third place on the ladder.
Gee was alight in Kyabram’s forward line with a five goal haul, and with Hamish Stewart chipping in with three majors and Cooper O’Neill two the young Bombers had 42 points to spare at the final siren.
Stewart’s return to form with the finals looming was pleasing.
Apart from Gee, the defenders led by Dylan Priest and key men Oscar Carver and Oliver Barnett stepped up again.
Tyler Doolan who played midfield and then got a tagging role, Jedd Turpin in the midfield and Cooper O'Neill were also prominent in the win.
The young Bombers face second placed flag favourites Shepparton this Saturday but even if beaten, their two challengers for the position, Mooroopna and Shepparton United, who are one and two games respectively in arrears of them on the ladder, have inferior percentages.
That would mean beating the winless Euroa in the last round would sew up third place for the Bombers.
