Bombers do the job against Tat

The only player on Kyabram’s lengthy injury list who returned for the clash was defender Jack Sheldon with Rhys Clark, Rueben Rode and Brad Whitford missing again.

The Andrew Ciavarella coached Tatura certainly put in a braver showing than earlier in the season when Kyabram won by 160 points.

There were times when the Bulldogs matched it with their hosts, particularly in the first half and second quarter when they had almost as many scoring shots.

But in the second half Kyabram kicked seven unanswered goals while Tatura’s only goal for the last two quarters came on the final siren.

The Bombers again had matchwinners and match savers.

Veteran defender Jason Morgan and classy onballers Kaine Herbert, Riley Ironside, Jack Russell and Josh Dillon led the way while ruckman Zac Norris continued his stellar season.

Ironside capped a solid performance all game with four majors while Russell snared three and Aidan Robinson two.

But as the finals scores indicated Kyabram missed a lot of shots on goal.

Players who showed they were at home at GVL level for Tatura were James Bennett, Kieren Andrew, Tom Sullivan, Will Russell, Ryan Young and Andrew Ciavarella who all competed all game with a purpose.

For Kyabram, other players who made an impact at times were Charlie Isaac, Miller Griffiths, Tom Burnett, Aidan Robinson, Riley Gallivan and Sam Sheldon.

But many Kyabram players went missing on the day and will need to get involved in the next four games if the Bombers are to be any chance to hold its spot in the top five and play finals.

That four games mission starts this Saturday when the Bombers tackle flag favourite Echuca at Echuca.

The Bombers hope to have Rueben Rode and Brad Whitford return for this clash, but classy fly-in player Rhys Clark may not be seen again this season after a foot injury he received in the recent Rochester game.

My best for Kyabram were: Jason Morgan, Kaine Herbert, Riley Ironside, Zac Norris, Jack Russell and Charlie Isaac.

Reserves

Kyabram reserves ran out easy winners with another strong team performance.

Ruckmen Brenton Brasier and Jayden Fitzgerald were dominant and received great support from Noah Ryan, who scored three goals, and the hard working Brodie Easton.

Up forward Tom Curnow and Ryan chipped in with three goals each, while Hunter Fawcett, Will Wild and David Coulthard bagged two majors each to keep the Kyabram scoreline ticking over.

Max Carroll and Zac Parkinson were also able to have an impact as Kyabram drew away to win by 103 points.

Ciaran Hubble, Bailey Archer and Corey O'Donoghue were the pick of the Tatura players.

It’s going to be a lot tougher this Saturday for the second placed Kyabram who take on the unbeaten Echuca, who prevailed when they met earlier in the season in a night clash at Kyabram.

Under-18s

Kyabram thirds also face a huge challenge this Saturday, also against Echuca who have yet to be beaten this season.

On Saturday, the Bombers fought off Tatura, and a thick fog, to win by a comfortable 47 points.

The young Bombers who mastered the conditions best were Mitch Wilson and James Hargraeves off back flanks and Jedd Turpin who presented at every chance up forward and kicked three goals.

James Priest also worked hard in Kyabram’s forward line along with Paddy Westerveld while wingers Wil Harrison and Antonio Depasquale gave a lot of drive.

Isaiah Scoble was also again an influential player for the winners.

For Tatura, Ben O’Connell, Angus Ewart and Tim Mawley were the standouts with Shannon Wills and Archer Hogan providing solid support.
