With the Bombers also hunting their third win of the season, the clash at Mansfield Recreation Reserve started off well for the visitor, who piled on 10 goals in the opening stanza while limiting the Eagles to six.
Mansfield (8) romped back into the contest in the second period with minimal chances for either side to move into the goal circle, the scores sitting level at 14-apiece at the major break.
As the Bombers (5) toiled through much of the third term, the Eagles spread their wings, sending nine through the back of the net to take a four-goal advantage as a pivotal final frame loomed.
Kyabram found its first quarter form down the stretch when defender Tam Skinner was moved into the goal circle, nailing eight goals.
However, it wasn’t enough to stop a Mansfield outfit firing on all cylinders to finish the game, notching a match-best 13 goals for the quarter through Alexandra Ball and Amy Dixon-Rielly.
In what started as a promising venture for the Bombers, ended in a hard-fought 36-27 loss, with goal defender Jemma Hall being named best-on-court for her efforts.
With finals out of the question for Kyabram, it will end their season with two away games against 2024 runner-up Echuca and Shepparton Swans, respectively.
