Both kicked goals in the win, which saw the Bombers keep Shepparton United goalless for the entire first half and eventually win by 51 points.
Atkins, who was 34 at the time of the grand final, was the veteran of the team and was playing in his 216th game for the club. He had been involved in losing grand finals in 2009 and 2010.
Linton, who was 27 at the time, had 59 games under his belt.

Ten years ago: Wiffen and Pertzel from the pages of the Free Press in 2013.
Captain of the 2013 under-18 team, Jarryd Pertzel, had a leading role to play in the reunion of the premiership side from 10 years ago, with coach Paul Newman otherwise engaged as coach of the Kyabram senior team that was playing Shepparton Swans on GV Creamery Oval.
He and Josh Wiffen were recognised as the two best players in the match where another modern day star of the Bombers, Kyle Mueller, kicked three goals.
Fittingly, Mueller turned on a show for his former teammates, kicking five goals in the Bombers’ win on Saturday.
Wiffen won the VCFL medal and Pertzel, now playing at Merrigum, kicked three goals and was named the winner of the Freddo McMahon Medal for best-on-ground.
Aaron Hayes, Sean Dillon, Jack Donnell and Liam Barrett were other good players.

Saturday’s Kyabram team, which was a comfortable winner against Shepparton Swans, also included four players who were part of that 2013 GVL premiership team. Current captain Jason Morgan, who was injured on Saturday, and current coach Paul Newman were also in the David Williams coached team
Modern day men: Josh Wiffen and Jarryd Pertzel were both recognised with awards from their under-18 grand final win against Benalla in 2013.
