Chasing Echuca 9/142, Corey Carvers tried hard to deliver a win with a half century, but didn’t get enough support as The Flames came up 12 runs short.
Shannon O’Brien and Tom Owen both took three wickets for the Brigade.
— Brad Stewart with 49 and Luke Tywnstra (42) helped second placed Stanhope reach what was a winning score of 7/166 against Tongala.
Tongala replied with 140, with opener Rory Knight with 41, the best of its batsmen.
— Bradie Chillingsworth played a match-winning hand of 79 to help Rushworth account for Rochester.
With support from Harley Nancarrow who made 46, Rushworth posted 5/173 and then dismissed Rochester for 148 with Kade Dearing the wrecker with a brilliant burst of 5/30.
Mitch Hewes made a defiant 68 for Rochester.
— Colbinabbin suffered an eight wicket loss to Moama with opener Fletcher White’s 25 the best effort with the bat for Colbo.
C-grade
With Ky McDonald taking 4/9 and Anthony Anderson 3/6, Girgarre routed Nondies Cohuna for just 23, a score it covered in five overs.
— Rochester’s batsmen fared even worse than Nondies Cohuna’s, making only 22 against Cooma who covered the score without loss.
Tom Werner with 3/6 and Hunter Fawcett with 3/2 dismissed Rochester in 17 overs.
— Tongala could only manage 9/104 against Fire Brigade who cruised to a four wicket win on the back of an unbeaten 58 from opener Sam Vick.
In the battle of the two top sides, Stanhope restricted Echuca to 8/126, but it came up four runs short in its run chase despite the efforts of Jonathon Pearson (41) and Scott Marshall with an unbeaten 36. They were the only Stanhope batsmen to reach double figures.
D-grade
Steven Phillips’ knock of 83 with 12 fours and three sixes highlighted top side Girgarre’s win over Rushworth.
Phillips faced only 56 balls in helping Girgarre reach 8/163.
Rushworth’s batsmen led by David Baldwin (48) and Peter Raglus (43) had Girgarre worried with an opening stand of 80, but it came up 21 runs short.
— Bottom side Cooma pushed BLU, keeping the visitors to 9/134, but came up 11 runs short in its run chase.
Cooma opener Leigh Hall with 37 did his best to cause the upset.
Tongala could manage only 98 chasing Echuca’s 5/170.
