The annual Chummy Bartlett Shield - a day of inter-sport fun and competition for Deniliquin primary school students - took place last Friday.

Despite the weather showcasing four seasons in one day, the senior students from the four schools competed with great sportsmanship and school spirit in football, netball and newcombe ball.
The football component was dominated by St Michael’s on the day, finishing undefeated after their three matches.
South Public School came in a close second, losing to St Michael’s by only a few points and winning their other two games.
In both newcombe ball and netball, it was South on top.
South’s netballers went through undefeated in the A-grade, with North coming in second place after notching up some wins.
North also placed second in newcombe ball.
The final standings once all the points for wins were tallied were: South, 28 points; St Michael’s, 14; North, 12; Edward, 8.
As a result, South was awarded the Chummy Bartlett Shield for the second year.
It was presented on Friday by Chummy’s daughter Eunice Bennett, and her son Brodie Bennett.
Edward Public School’s Adam Bodey was congratulated for organising a great event.
