This club has been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember, and to now have the honour of serving as president is something very special to me.
To see the spirit, hard work, and success of our Blues family up close has been incredibly rewarding.
This year has carried even deeper meaning for us all.
The end of 2024 brought unimaginable heartache with the tragic loss of two much-loved young players and members of our club, along with the passing of five of our life members in such a short space of time.
It was a devastating period for the Tongala community, but out of that grief, our club family truly galvanised.
The social side of our club became more important than ever, as players, volunteers, families and supporters leaned on one another and strengthened the bonds that make this place so special.
On the courts, all seven netball teams made the finals, while two of our four football sides also qualified, meaning only two teams across the whole club didn’t feature in September action.
We now look forward to three netball sides — B-grade, C-grade and C-reserve — contesting this weekend’s grand finals.
We’ve also celebrated individual honours, with Mikaela Pike crowned the C-reserve league medallist, Tracey Hughes taking out the C-grade medal, Jedd Turpin finishing as the under-17s leading goal kicker, and Isla White named runner-up in the under-15s league best-and-fairest.
Most importantly, 2025 has shown the strength of our club, both on and off the field.
I feel very fortunate to lead such a proud, passionate and united community, and I can’t wait to see what this weekend brings.
- Daniel Cox, Tongala Football Netball Club president
