Welshman Oliver Hughes, a 21-year-old spin-bowling all-rounder, is the prize signing.
He is a right-arm off-spin bowler and middle-order batsman who hails from the Llandudno Cricket Club in Wales.
He is also an ECB Level 2 coach and curator.
It won’t be the first time he has played in Australia, and he has also donned the whites in India.
Hughes loves coaching juniors and is keen to further his coaching career while with Fire Brigade and in Australia.
Long-serving club president Jason Hooper said Hughes would be heavily involved in Fire Brigade’s junior program.
While with the club, he’ll coach the Under 15s team and also assist Paul Newman and Brad Edwards at Under 11s level and Brett Andison’s Under 13s squad.
Jackson Barnett and Bohden Learmonth will be in charge of the Under 17s.
Hughes will also be heavily involved in the Master Blasters program and the Mini Flames eight-week program.
This season the Under 17s will train Tuesday and Thursday nights and play on Friday nights again.
The Under 15s will train Mondays and play Tuesday nights in a change of times.
The Under 13s will train Monday nights and play Wednesday nights again.
All registrations are currently open and aspiring players can register via the links on KFBCC Facebook posts.
Hughes will join Cooma recruits Cooper Fawcett, Hunter Fawcett and Archer Backway as well as several returning players as key additions to the Flames this season as they look to continue their improvement from last season in a bid to go deep into finals in all grades.
