Competition pacesetter Kyabram had a comfortable but unimpressive win when the Cricket Shepparton Haisman Shield competition resumed after the festive break on Saturday.

Pitted against third positioned Karramomus, Kyabram used spin and pace to skittle the home side for just 102 in the game at Shepparton’s Vibert Reserve.
In reply, Kyabram’s batsmen wiped this tally off in 28 overs, mainly courtesy of contributions from opener Billy McLay and first drop, veteran Paul Parsons.
They came together after McLay and Cade Mueller shared an opening stand of 32 and took the Kyabram score to 88 when Parsons fell for an entertaining 34 off 33 deliveries with six fours.
When gun batsman Kyle Mueller holed out without scoring, McLay fell for a match high score of 36 with four boundaries and Kyle Fitzgerald made only one, the visitors had suddenly slumped to 5/92.
But Lukas Hanslow, with a quickfire 14 not out, and Alec Young then picked off the runs needed to deliver the win without further loss of wickets.
Earlier, Kyabram skipper Kyle Mueller threw left arm of spinner Louis Sabbah-Holt and paceman Sam Langley the new ball after Karramomus won the toss and elected to bat.
They almost immediately had the home side batsmen on the back foot.

Langley struck the first blow when Karramomus had only four runs on the board and Sabbah-Holt proved just about unplayable on the way to figures of 4/5 off five overs, ironically without a runless over.
Langley finished with 3/25 off nine overs and another left arm spinner in Alec Young chipped in with 2/20 off 6.3 overs as the Karramomus batting line-up crumbled to be out for 102 in 35.3 overs.
Charlie McLay, with 1/38 off nine overs, was the other wicket taker for Kyabram.
Batting at number 10, Lachie Keady, son of Cricket Shepparton legend and multiple Lightfoot Medallist Chris Keady, was Karramomus’ top scorer with 29.
The win has entrenched Kyabram in top spot on the ladder and it will get the chance in the next round (there is no play this (Australia Day) weekend) to further consolidate its position there when it meets Nagambie in the first of three two-day fixtures to rap up the home-and-away season leading into the finals.
