Now, for 11 squads, that dream will be realised on Saturday as the KDL grand final day comes to Mooroopna Recreation Reserve.
The top-grade clashes will see Murchison-Toolamba and Lancaster battle for senior football glory, while in A-grade netball, Shepparton East and Girgarre are set for their own blockbuster clash.
In all, four football and seven netball premierships will be awarded across the grades.
The action in both sports kicks off at 9am, with the under-15 footballers and 15-and-under netballers raising the curtain.
The 17-and-under clash will follow at 10am, and the 13-and-under netball will begin at 10.30am.
The rest of the netball action will feature C-grade and C-reserve getting under way at 11.45am, B-grade at 1.15pm and the main event A-grade clash at 2.45pm.
On the footy field, the thirds will battle from 10.35am, the reserves from 12.35pm, and the seniors will finish the day from 2.40pm.
“We are finally here at the ultimate game for the year,” KDL president Peter Cordy said.
“Eighteen rounds and three weeks of amazing finals have all led to this day.”
“We wish all teams competing the very best of luck, and we look forward to seeing some tightly contested games across the day.”
